He is the younger brother of Pat Tillman, an NFL player who famously left his football career and enlisted in the United States Army in the aftermath of 9/11, and Kevin Tillman. He accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage award for his brothers during the 2003 ESPY Awards at the Kodak Theatre July 16, 2003 in Hollywood.
