He started his acting career through the police drama series Gerak Khas , playing the role of DSP Kumar.He (since the absence of Angeline Tan and Nancie Foo ) is the only non-Malay non-Muslim actor to act in Gerak Khas . In addition, Kumaresan sat in the director's chair through the film Maindhan which was released in August 2014. He also played a supporting role as ASP Kumar in the 2016 science fiction film, Desolation directed by Syafiq Yusof .

From 27 to 31 August 2017, he played the role of Suppiah in the patriotic drama series Anak Merdeka starring Remy Ishak , Elvis Chin and Thanuja Ananthan . Kumaresan also acted as Murali in the film Dukun directed by Dain Said .

He directed the drama adaptation of the novel by Zulkifli Ahmad Idrus, Mata Ketiti which premiered on Tonton on 31 October 2018, starring Hafeez Mikail , Mustaqim Bahadon , Isyariana Che Azmi and Dayana Roza .
