There are some made-for-TV movies that are cheesy, but in a good way. This is one of them.
The Immortal Voyage of Captain Drake has what you'd expect in a pirate film; adventure, sea monsters, beautiful women - and as a bonus it stars that guy from the Highlander TV series!
