The only area in which The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 suffers, is foretold in the title: This is just part one. You watch those two parts combined back to back? You've got the best superhero movie ever made.
Final rating:★★★★½ - Ridiculously strong appeal. I can’t stop thinking about it.
